September 28-30, 2015; End of another month and last days at work

SEPT 28 to 30; LAST WEEK AT WORK

MONDAY was very busy with deliveries and pick ups.  Bob is following me this week as I am training him to take over; not that there is much to learn!  Anyway, we went to HOPE for a delivery then on to Langley to pick up doors which we delivered most in ABBOTSFORD then to ROSEDALE for a last delivery.  I got home at 5 pm.  A long day.  It was sunny and it’s to be like that all week.  TUESDAY was also sunny, warm and busy.  We took three planks off the trailer’s deck and replace them.  That took us most of the day.  Val was called early this morning and went for a late afternoon snooze which is rare for her!  WEDNESDAY was also sunny and the last day of another month!  I took “BEAVER” in to O’CONNOR first thing this morning to have the slide leak redone, repair the leak in the lower left side locker and service the AQUA-HOT water system.  At work, we spent the morning and part of the afternoon replacing some of the deck on the flat deck trailer and painting it.  That was about it.  I picked up the “BEAVER” at 4:30 and brought home (I have to go back on Sturday as they didn’t finish the job.  We had a quiet evening at home.

September 21 to 27, 2015; RV Show and second to last week at work

SEPT 21 to 25; Second to last work week
It began slow but got busy on Tuesday.  My “transport day” was switched to Wednesday which made my weekly routine confusing! J  Thursday and Friday were quiet days with only half days of work.  Next week, Bob will be shadowing me as he is taking over my job.  That should be interesting and fun.  Friday evening, we met Val’s cousin and his wife at the JOLLY MILLER PUB in Vedder Crossing and had dinner with them.  Unfortunately and for the life of me I don’t know how, but I misplaced my prescription glasses in there.  I looked everywhere and couldn’t find them so I left my name and number in case someone turns them in.  I am just not getting any spare luck lately!!!  I just hope I don’t have to go out and buy a new pair. L

SEPT 26, SATURDAY; RV SHOW IN ABBOTSFORD
Cloudy this morning.  We went to Abbotsford for the RV Show as planned.  We looked at smaller RVs less than 6000 Lbs GVW and found a couple that we liked.  We also looked at a couple of NEWMAR and ALLEGRO motorhome and NO we didn’t buy one!  The sun finally showed through all those clouds and rain.  We stopped at COSTCO afterwards then came home.  At 7 pm, we went to the movie theatre and watched EVEREST in 3D and Xtreme surround sounds; spectacular sceneries!

SEPT 27, SUNDAY;
SUNNY!!!!  Finally!  We had our usual Sunday morning lazy start then got busy.  Val did the laundry and I washed all the windows in & out, dumped, put away the large patio carpet and organized the Jeep.  At 3 pm, Val went for a walk with her friend and I watched football (Seattle won).  We had a quiet evening at home then to bed

September 14 to 20, 2015; Work, dinner with family and visit in Coquitlam

SEPT 14 to 18;  Work Week
Cloudy on MONDAY morning and cool.  Fall is settling in by the looks of it.  I only worked a half day.  I called O’CONNOR and it looks like it might be a while before I get the motor for my awning; it is discontinued.  I went to the shop and discussed options which turned out to be very expensive, over $1800 so we’ve decided to hold off until we get down to Oregon and look at options there.  Thursday was somewhat busy and Friday, I only worked two hours.

SEPT 19, SATURDAY;  Dinner with R&K
It rained all day, at times heavy!  Val did laundry and I did some minor maintenance inside.  At 5:30 pm, Rochelle and Kevin showed up.  Kevin did some caulking for us then we proceeded to have dinner; steak, potatoes, yam and a salad.  Al this was washed down with wine that Kevin brought from the Okanagan Valley.  Earlier in the day, I had googled a recipe for marinating the steaks and I think it was a success.  We had a very nice visit and discussed our trip south.  We were in bed by 11 pm after R&K left at 10 pm.

SEPT 20, SUNDAY; Last visit with Joanne and the girls.

It rain buckets again today all the way to Coquitlam when it finally stopped.  We watched Grand-Daughter Jenaya play soccer and score one goal.  She’s a pretty good player and is not afraid to get dirty.  After the game, we went to their house and visited until 6 pm when we left for home.  AS we drove away, the sun was out but as we got closer to Chilliwack, the sky turn grey then black and we got into the rain once again.  We were in bed early.

September 8 to 13, 2015; More stuff

SEPT 8 to 11; Short work week
And a busy one it was! Except for one day, I worked full days doing deliveries, pick-ups and even went to Delta to clean and fix a window that we installed at Wesport Terminals.  Friday evening we went out to MR MIKE for dinner.  This was also the hottest day of the week @ 30*C.

SEPT 12, SATURDAY; Happy Hour at Doreen.
Posted on CHILLIWACK 24 BIDDING the sale of 4 winter tires.  I hope they sell!  Laundry day!  At 3:30, we went to Doreen and Gord’s place for HH.  Rochelle & Kevin, Ron & Babe and their friends Deb and Brian.  Doreen had lots of food laid out so no one left hungry.  We had lots of fun and laughter and we even had Grand-Daughter Vanessa show up.  We finally called it quit around 9 pm.

SEPT 13, SUNDAY; Selling more stuff

I washed the “Beaver” this morning.  The roof was really filthy.  In the afternoon, we went to Rochelle where I picked up the four winter tires that were on the Elantra and which I sold on “CHILLIWACK 24 HOURS BIDDING”.  It is quite a site!  Anyway, we drove to Cultus Lake where I was to meet the guy but since we were early, we had a beer and chicken wings at the Lakeside Beach Club.  The guy finally showed up after a mix-up and took the tires and I his money!  On the way home, Val wanted to stop at Babe and Ron so that she could see their new house then we came home.

September 3 to 7, 2015; Labour Day Week-End

SEPT 3-4; Back to work
I spent the day on Thursday doing pick-ups in Coquitlam, Surrey and Burnaby then delivered 4 frames to Seabird Island.  Back at the shop, the stock was unloaded and checked in then it was quitting time.  Val worked too and tonight, she is gone to a Company dinner so I am fending for myself.  Pub here we come. J  Called Jeffrey to see how he’s doing…still in deep Love!!!  Friday was one delivery to Seabird then work around the shop and take some doors to the “Home Shop”.  I was off by 2 pm as we had an appointment with our Financial Adviser at 3:30 to sign some papers.  We also dropped off some required papers at “Harmony Mtg”.  I phoned the bank to get a letter stating our Loan was paid off and I found out that they had already charged me $5.83. so I fired them a nasty letter via the on-line bank as I paid the amount right after I made my monthly payment and found out the new balance.  No wonder they are in the BILLION$ in profit!!!

SEPT 5, SATURDAY; CYCLING around GRANVILLE ISLAND.
What a wonderful day this was!  Sunny and warm, we drove to Vancouver’ Granville Island where we found a parking spot and went cycling around the area.  We stopped at a jewellery where I bought Val a ring 15 years ago as she wanted it redone but unfortunately they couldn’t do it but gave her a number of someone who may be able to help!  We were in Vanier Park when I got the idea to call Jeff and hold and behold if he wasn’t moored at the Granville Hotel on the Island!!!  We cycled back to our car which was parked nearby the Hotel, put the bikes back on the rack and walked over to his boat.  He was by himself but with two other boater friends moored nearby.  We had a very nice visit with him and his friends.  They were all going out for dinner at the Hotel at 6 pm and Kim was to join them.  We left around 5 pm and drove back home.  We stopped in Abbotsford at the “SPAGHETTI FACTORY” and had a nice dinner.  Back home we ended the day by watching a movie on the tube!

SEPT 6, SUNDAY;
Back to rain this morning and cooler.  I uploaded some new pictures to my “PICASA WEB PAGE”   https://picasaweb.google.com/lh/myphotos  and updated my blog.  Val did laundry and I took down our gazebo and organized some of the lockers for our departure.  The sun did show up in the early afternoon allowing us to be out and about.  Later in the afternoon, Val went for a walk on the Vedder Trail with her friend.  We had a roast pork for dinner and it was done to perfection.

SEPT 7, MONDAY; Labour day
A day off due to the holiday!  Sunny with clouds this morning.  We went to town to get me new slippers and a few other thing.  We had lunch at our Pub then to the kids’ house to get measurement on the winter tires I am selling.  We said a quick hello to R&K and heard a bit about their trip to Whistler.  Back at our house, it was dinner then a lax evening.

September 1 & 2, 2015; Last month in Chilliwack

SEPTEMBER 1, 2015, TUESDAY; LAST FULL MONTH in CHILLIWACK!
I am off today!  We have 4 more weeks of work then our plans are to go back up to our lot in the Shuswap in early October, close the place down, return to Chwk for Thanks-Giving then south to the USA and Mexico around the 16th October providing all goes well!
Val was supposed to be off today but was called in for work.  The rain has abated this morning but came back in full force in the afternoon.  I worked around the motorhome doing a few more repair chores.

SEPT 2, WEDNESDAY; Motorhome to the shop
What a day and I have been vindicated on the A/C saga!!!  We woke up at 6 am to blue sky and we even had a nice sunrise.  We got our home to move and were at O’CONNOR RV by 8 am.  We went for breakfast in one of Chilliwack’s best restaurant for breakfast then onwards to Safeway for some shopping.  Val had to be at work by noon but we had time to get the windshield on the Santa Fe repaired.  It had two small chip that we got fixed.  Val went to work at noon and I carried on doing a few business run-around.
Here is the story of my vindication!  I went to O’Connor to get something from the BEAVER and met the Technician working on our home.  We got talking and I mentioned the front A/C.  He opened it up and said that all it needed was a switch to be turned on and he proceeded to do just that.  Hold and behold, the furnace came on the thermostat control and it worked fine!  I told him about the noise in the A/C and he suggested that I go get the new A/C from MTNVIEW and ask them if they would pay which is what I did.  I told MTNVIEW that he didn’t need to get a new control box as the one already in place was working fine.  He went on and on about his distributor misleading him.  I cut him off and made the offer from O’CONNOR which he readily accepted so I pick up the new A/C and went back to O’CONNOR.  When I got there, the Tech had already opened up the A/C and found that the wires had been shoved above the control box and were squeezing the cooler and that was what made the vibration and noise.  It is now working fine and MTNVIEW is out $200 for the repairs and stuck with a new A/C.  I am sure he won’t have a hard time to sell it!  And they (Don the owner and Ted is top Tech) claimed to have 30 years’ service between them!?  I think he needs to learn to listen to his customer more and sent that Ted back to school.  I also believe that they had no clue what they were doing when they changed that A/C back in early July.  Two months wasted and full of frustration for nothing but I feel vindicated!
