July 24 to 31, 2008

JULY 24, Thursday

Rain, rain and more rain. Most of the day so spent it reading, feeding the dogs and read some more

JULY 25, Friday, Vet day!

Took Tucker to the vet. this morning. He got his shots for rabies and got a full check up. All is well and he is healthy. He did NOT like having the thermometer up his rear end!!! He weighs a healthy 21 lbs which is the same as last year. He is now all set for our trip to the States and Mexico.
Went for brunch afterward then we got more groceries at Loblaws. Came home and Val went for a swim. It was sunny today but we did get rain in the evening although we managed a campfire in the early evening.

JULY 26, Saturday,

Cut the lawn this morning while it's still sunny then it was swim time. Lise's son and his family came over to enjoy the lake but left around 4:30 p,m. as it started to drizzle! Surprise!!!

JULY 27, Sunday

Sun and clouds this morning. We went cycling into town, followed this trail and ended up at Gaetan's place. We visited with them and their guests for about an hour then cycled back to the truck and came home, just in time for more rain.
It rained overnight

JULY 28, Monday

Wrote some e-mails this morning then we walked the dogs, cleaned the place up a bit and Val did laundry.
In the afternoon, we went to Pierreville, about an hour from here. This is where my mom was raised as a child so it was neat to re-visit it again. We drove on to Notre-Dame de Pierreville, had a beer, enjoyed the views by the river and took some pictures. This is where the St-Francois River empties into the St-Lawrence river. It used to be a big port and industrial area when my mom grew up but there is nothing here now except chalet and the Indian reserve

Came home, had dinner and Gilles and Lise arrived around 7 p.m. We chatted till late. They had a very good holiday

JULY 29, Tuesday, Visit from Terry and Glenda

Sun and clouds again this morning. Got a call from Glenda and Terry in the morning. They arrived at our place around 1p.m. Sure nice seeing them again. Made the introductions to Gilles and Lise then I took them to the campsite across the way from us and got them all booked in. The lady didn't speak any English.
Afterwards, they cycled over and we sat by the lake, chatted and enjoyed the sun while it lasted. Val prepared a nice meal and then we sat around, chatted and caught up to all their news.

JULY 30, Wednesday, cycling

The 4 of us went cycling along Hemming way, approx 8-9 miles return then after cooling off, we went over to their place for happy hour. Lise hurt her knee earlier in the day riding their ATV and now she is laid up with ice on her knee.
We had fajita for dinner, Glenda's specialty and it was delicious. We then sat inside as it started to rain and we BS'ed till about 11 p.m. when we came home. Glenda showed me how they keep track of sites they want to see so I am going to start something similar

JULY 31, Thursday, Sightseeing to Sherbrooke

We took Glenda and Terry to Lemaire cheese factory where we had poutine and lunch then we took a drive down hwy 155 towards Sherbrooke looking for antique places. We did find one place which had all kinds of junk and an eccentric old man. We spent a few minutes there then drove on to Richmond then Windsor and finally to Sherbrooke where we walked around the city centre and looked at beautiful murals then had a beer at a local pub.
We drove back home to rain and stormy skies, had dinner at our place then looked at pictures and Glenda caught up to her blog. I also got some more tips on using Picasa program.
They left around 11:30 p.m. and we said our goodbyes as they are leaving tomorrow for more adventure. I tried to convince them to stop in Quebec city as I don't think they will be disappointed.

July 16 to 23, 2008 Drummond'Ville

JULY 16, Wednesday, Truck maintenance

I took the truck to the garage and had an oil/lube done. Afterwards, we drove to Longueuil to Therese to pick up our bikes before they go on holidays. While there, we went to Costco and Wal-Mart then we came back to Drummond. Traffic was heavy on the way back. This is the start of Construction holiday when the WHOLE Province's construction workers go on holiday for 2 weeks. still no mail

JULY 17, Thursday. More maintenance

Took the truck back to the garage and had the wheel alignment checked and 4 new shocks installed. What a difference. Afterwards, I called our mail service to find out what was happening. Good thing I did, they had a computer crash and lost my address and phone number. They forwarded our mail via UPS overnight at their cost which was very nice. Gilles came home around 3 p.m., he has started his holidays.

JULY 18, Friday, Mail arrives finally

Our mail arrived this morning finally. Got two cheques from the BC Govt regarding green refunds. Also got one refund from ICBC re: our trip to Mexico. It rained most of the day

JULY 19, Saturday Yard work

we went to town in the morning after helping Gilles around the yard. Also deposited our "fortune". Val went for a swim in the lake and then a friend of Gilles and Lise came over for a quick visit.
We had a fire in the evening and music provided by a party across the lake.

JULY 20, Sunday

Today marks our mid point before we leave again for southern destinations. Time is flying! I do miss home, our Province, our friends. So does Val. It's cloudy and humid again today but the sun is trying to burn through.
We went cycling around the neighborhood, about 10 miles return. Gilles and Lise spent the day getting ready for their big trip to the States to see Veronique, our niece and for a drive to Virginia beach

JULY 21, Monday.

Gilles and Lise left around 11 a.m. for their holidays. We are babysitting the dogs (4 of them). I made an appointment with the Vet for Friday to have Tucker's shots Rain in the afternoon.

JULY 22, Tuesday

Christiane had called and wanted me to help her get a load of firewood for her party in August so I drove to her place then to Rona to pick up a pallet of left over wood such as 2X4, 2X6 and the likes. I didn't realize they did that. Cost her $50 and we got a full truck load. Went to her place and unloaded then I came home It rained later in the afternoon

JULY 23, Wednesday

Cloud and rain again. God, is this weather pattern ever going to end!? Another spent at the house. Took the dogs out for a walk and read most of the day.

July 1 to 15, visits and repairs

Well, finally getting a chance to catch up to this blog. It's been a busy time so I will make a quick summary. We had a great visit with my son Jeffrey and his friend Crystal. They went and spent 4 days with his aunt Therese in Longueuil and we took them to the airport on Sunday the 6Th for their return trip. That morning, we went to "old Montreal", the historic part of the city where we had brunch then walked a couple streets and did some shopping.
The previous day, Saturday the 5Th, we dropped off the rig at St-Cyr RV and spent the week at my sister. We did some shopping and went cycling. Also cooled off in their swimming pool. I think though that she was glad when we left on Monday and she finally had her house back.
We picked up the rig on Monday the 14Th and took it to Vaillancourt RV to get the suspension fixed. There were no problems with that part of it but it was another story at St-Cyr RV. They screwed up the ordering of the parts and instead of ordering a bracket for the motor, they ordered the motor even though I had told them twice that it was the bracket. They also didn't order the fan so now we have to go back again. The sink in the bathroom is also on back-order. What a nightmare...it's really getting depressing. When we got home, we found the cupboard in the laundry room had opened and half the content found its way onto the floor. They didn't latch the cupboard properly. How frustrating. I also found that they didn't replace the cupboard door latched but attempted to repair it so it still doesn't close properly. They also damaged the panel near the cupboard and tried to cover up. Another job to re-do.
We came home on Monday night and spent the night in Wal-mart parking lot as it was late. The following day, Tuesday the 15Th, we took the rig to Gougeon Repair shop as I needed a new tire. There was a big bulge on the side wall and I figure it is because of the incident with the suspension. I sent an e-mail to Fleetwood requesting a reimbursement for the cost of the tire. Remains to see what happens. So....from here we went back to Gilles' place and parked. Spent the rest of the day setting up. Discovered that the post by the entrance way also stressed and came apart at the top. I wrote to Fleetwood and they will pay to have it repair. We are now over our Warranty period.
