June 22 to 30, 2015; New mattress and A/C quits

JUNE 22 to 26; Back to work and A/C quits
It was a busy week!  Every day I had some delivery or pick up to do and when not doing that, I was working around the shop doing odd jobs and taking old window apart for the aluminium.  It got progressively hotter as the week went by, reaching 35*C by Friday and to top it off, the A/C in the front of the MH quit on us!  I got Mountain View RV Repair to check it out and get a new one.
They got one by Thursday but unfortunately it was the wrong one so they had to order a new one.  By Friday evening we still didn’t have our A/C replace so we were stuck without for the W/E.  The bedroom one is working though, thank god!
We went to our local Pub on Friday evening for dinner.  Their A/C was also malfunctioning!  This is not our week!!!  Val worked today and she had a surprise visit from Aud and Marcel who were down here to buy a new bike but couldn’t stay as they were on their way back to OSOYOOS.

JUNE 27, SATURDAY; Mattress delivered
I got a call yesterday that our mattress would be delivered today between 1 and 4 pm.  They got here at 12:30 pm which was fine by us.  We went to town shopping and doing errands.  It was a very HOT day: 38*C!  Sure glad we have two A/C as the one in the bedroom is cooling the whole MH right now; not very effective but it keeps the extreme heat down in the living area.

JUNE 28, SUNDAY;
HOT, HOT, HOT!!!  And to think that a couple months ago we complained about rain and cold!  We got energetic today and worked on a few maintenance and cleaning projects.  I got the utensils drawer fixed, installed a bar on the screen door and cleaned out a few things out of Beaver and into the basement or garbage.  In the afternoon, we went for a drive and ended up at the “WILDCAT GRILL” in Rosedale for lunch.  It was OK but not great.  It is a new place, was almost empty and took a long time to serve lunch!  We got on Hwy 1 for our return home; traffic was heavy from everyone returning home from the W/E.  I boiled and BBQ’ed CHWK corn and steaks for dinner then we relaxed in the house with the A/C on full blast.  I tried sitting out for a while but it was muggy and still hot….very uncomfortable!

JUNE 29, MONDAY; an unwanted day off!
No work for me today so I washed the Jeep.  In the evening, we sat outside for a while and had dinner at MR MIKE as it was just too bloody hot to cook inside

JUNE 30, TUESDAY; Work

My day began with a run to Burnaby then to Aldergrove.  Back at the shop, I unloaded the doors then spent a couple hours taking screen doors apart and saving the slider wheels.  Kevin and Rochelle are going to Vancouver to bicycle with the kids so we took his canopy off so that he can load everyone’s bike.  I also heard from MOUNTAINVIEW RV and they will be at our place tomorrow to install our A/C --- FINALLY!

June 16 to 21, 2015; work, new purchases and Father's Day

JUNE 16 to 19; Work
I spent the day Tuesday washing the driveway at the “Home Shop”.  Kevin wanted to put a coat of sealant on it and he had a 5 gallon pale of the stuff.  On Wednesday, Tanner and I went back to the “Home Shop” and began putting the sealant on.  We soon realized the stuff we were putting on wasn’t the right stuff and after investigating, we found out it was sealant for blacktop driveway.  So back to the store to buy XYLENE, sprayed it on then pressure washed the whole thing off.  Back at the shop, I took apart the old windows left in the shop and went home by 4 pm.  Thursday, I went for my usual pick-ups which lasted all morning.  After lunch, I went back to the house and after buying the right stuff this time, began spraying it on.  Kevin was there to help.  We finished the driveway, parking area and part of the patio.  Friday was only a half day.  I was home by 12:30 after stripping old window frames and cleaning the delivery truck. The jeep’s battery has been acting up the last two, three days so I went to CDN TIRE and got a new one.  I also stopped at the shop that is doing the repair on the A/C and gave them the go ahead.  We will be putting that on our Extended Warranty!

JUNE 20, SATURDAY; New mattress
We went to Costco in Abbotsford after a lazy morning.  On the way there, we saw a store “Mattress Shop” that had a sale on for mattress so we stopped to take a look and ended by buying one which met our needs and finances so we bought it!  It will be delivered next Saturday.  We continued to Costco, got a few needed items then went home to put the meat in the freezer.  At 3:30 pm we went over to Rochelle and Kevin for Happy Hour.  Russ and Cathy showed up and also Ron and Babe with friends of theirs whom they met in Palm Spring and live near ChilliwackRochelle had lots of food as usual and good time was had by all.  We got home at 7:30 and proceeded to relax

JUNE 21, SUNDAY; Father’s Day!
Another lazy, relaxing morning then Val did the laundry and I did a couple of small jobs around the Beaver including dumping the tanks; carefully this time!!!  I went to MARK’s to check their sale for Father’s Day and I found their prices just too high.  I took back shoes that I bought at COSTCO and got a new pair that fitted better.  I got calls from both my daughter and my son wishing me a Happy Father’s Day.  We were in bed early in anticipation of the coming work week.

June 8 to 15, 2015; Doctors appiontment and surprise visitors

JUNE 8 to 11; A week full of surprise
On Monday, I had to go to Burnaby to pick up some frames then back at the shop, Bob and I cut and rubber pressure plates, “beauty” caps, and rails for a job coming up.  I also re-screen the screen door to the motor-home, it was overdue, full of holes.  I was home by 4:30 pm. Kathy and Louie soon arrived and after a HH we all went to BOSTON PIZZA for a pasta dinner.  Afterwards, we came home and sat around until 10 pm when they left after saying goodbye; they are headed for Vancouver Island then to Osoyoos to visit Audrey and Marcel.  I had invited Rochelle and Kevin to join us but I got a call that they were just too tired and excused themselves.  I also learned that I would not be working tomorrow!!!  Tuesday, being a day off, I caught up to my banking then went to an RV shop to get some locks for the drawers and eventually found some at Home Depot!  I cooked fish and chips for dinner and Val made the salad.  Wednesday was back to work and it was a fairly busy day.  Thursday was “pick-up” day and I went to Aldergrove, Langley, Surrey and Burnaby and ended the day by picking up old windows from Andrew’s job site.  I was home by 5:30 pm.  It was a full day!  Val worked today from 11 to 4 pm.  She made pasta and shrimp for dinner.

JUNE 12, FRIDAY; to Kamloops and Salmon Arm
We left CHWK at 7:45 am and drove to Merritt before stopping for breakfast at “HOME Restaurant”.  After a nice breakfast (their food are always superb) we carried on to Kamloops where I had a specialist appointment for a follow-up on my nose operation.  Afterwards, we carried on Salmon Arm but first made a stop in Sorrento to renew our meds.  In S.A., we picked up our mail then we both went to our regular doctor’s appointment for our medical check-up.  Once that was completed, we went to our place in Gateway, Lee Creek and as we drove in, the whole gang was standing on the road chatting so we joined them and ended having a HH on the street.  Another fun evening!  We drove back to Chase where we had rented a room on the way up to Sorrento and spent a comfortable evening and night.  We ate both dinner and breakfast at the restaurant attached to the motel which is under new management and the food was good although the menu wasn’t elaborate.

JUNE 13, SATURDAY; back to Gateway then Chilliwack
After showering, packing our luggage back into the jeep and a hearty breakfast, we drove back to Gateway where we loaded our kayaks then proceeded to weed and clean our site.  Donna and Marcel had us over for lunch (quesadilla and salad) then it was back to more weeding and cleaning.  We called it quit around 2:30 pm, visiting with Theresa and Ron and met his aunt; then down to Marcel and Donna to say goodbye, next came Ed and Judy and a surprise visit of old acquaintance from our trip to the Baja, Sharon and   . We had a quick there then as we were leaving, Bob and Gail drove by so we said our adieu to them too.  We stopped at George and Paulette to say goodbye then finally to Heather and Dan as Val wanted to hire Heather to keep up on the weeding on the site while we are away.  FINALLY, we hit the road by 5 pm.  It was sunny when we left and we had the same all the way home to Chilliwack.  We stopped in Merritt for dinner and home by 9 pm.  Unpack, relax for a bit and to bed.  It was a long day!!!

JUNE 14, SUNDAY; BBQ with the kids
Yesterday, we texted Rochelle & Kevin and Hayley and invited them over for a BBQ at our place.  Unfortunately Hayley is working so just mom and dad came.  We also had a surprise visit:  Kathy and Louie showed up around 4 pm but didn’t stay for dinner however they come back later.  We had a very nice BBQ with R&K; shiskabob (sp?) beef and vegetable and pineapple with small potatoes and wine.  It was delicious and there was very few left over.  We had a very nice visit with everyone but all good things, it had to end at one point.  It was sunny and very warm but in the shade, it was very pleasant.
Earlier in the morning I had a stupid accident that caused a real mess.  I dumped the tanks, flushed them then walked away leaving the water turned on.  It overflowed and created a disaster.  We finally got it clean in time not to ruin our dinner.  I guess after 15 years, it was bound to happen!!!?  Lesson learned!

JUNE 15, MONDAY; day off

Another sunny and hot day.  Val worked 8 to 4 pm today and I was given the day off as there is no work.  I cleaned the dishes from yesterday then I went to town to pick up my cheque and my bike which was in for a tune-up.  It was a quiet day.

June 1 to 7, 2015; A new month!

JUNE 1 TO 4, 2015; Work week
I had to make a run to Burnaby first thing Monday to pick up doors then deliver them to a site in Mission.  I also made a stop in Surrey then it was back to the shop, unload the stock and one more errand then I was off by 2 pm.  I came home and cleaned out the three Fantastic fans and replace the screen with “pop-in”.  Val was called to work this morning (she was supposed to be off).  We had rain overnight into Tuesday.  It’s been a while.  A couple deliveries then I helped Bob putting together the work bench for the new truck.  Did I mention that Kevin bought a new truck?  Yep, we now have at 5 company trucks…we are growing!  Thursday was driving day!  I was in Burnaby, Coquitlam, Surrey, Aldergrove and Abbotsford then back to the shop.  I went home by 4 pm.  I was told that I have the day off tomorrow as there is nothing going on.  I hope this is not a sign of things to come!???

JUN 5, FRIDAY; Day off
It’s going to be a hot week-end!  Already at 8 am we have all the windows open.  Val worked 8 to 4 today and I took my bike to the shop for a tune-up then I worked on a couple projects around the house.  We went to “EARL’S” for dinner and that’s the last time. $83 for dinner is a bit too much!  Val did like her pasta and shrimp and my steak was very good though!  Two glasses of wine and one beer was EXTREMELY expensive!

JUNE 6, SATURDAY
The basement locker on the driver side is finally dry so I put everything back in to Val’s delight as it was piled up on the patio.  It got to +25*C today, we had the AC on from 4 pm into late in the evening to cool things down.  Isn’t it ironic that here I am complaining about the heat while I am reading a book from ALVAH SIMON, NORTH OF THE NIGHT (2006) and he’s complaining about temperature of -45*F.  He and his cat are on his boat frozen in ice in the high Artic at Latitude 75*!  We got a call from Val’s sister Kathy that they are in Salmon arm and will be here tomorrow

JUNE 7, SUNDAY

Another hot day!  We had the ACs going by noon!  We went to CDN TIRE then returned home to find that Kathy and hubby Louie had been here already but would be back later.  We sat around, relaxed, read and tried to find some breeze and shade.  K&L arrived back around 4 pm and we had HH and caught up to most of the news from back East.  Val had a roast on so we had that for dinner then we chatted some more.  They left around 9 pm but will see them again tomorrow
