We went full-time Rving in October of 2005! We retired from full time to part-time as of the end of 2015. Our present "small but comfortable" Wagon is a 2008 Camper trailer(TravelAir Rustler), pulled by a 2008 Dodge Dakota, 4X4.l. Our home is now a Gated Community Park, in Oliver, British-Columbia, Canada. I retired in 2005 and my Life Companion, Valerie, retired October 1, 2006 from nursing. We invite you to follow and share our new adventures and mishaps. Life is but an adventure full of dreams yet to be fulfilled!

August 25 to 28, 2009 Gateway and new 5th=Wheel

AUG. 25, Tuesday, Gateway
We heard on the radio this morning that Sorrento is on “Standby” for evacuation due to the fire on the mountain behind them. It is growing fast and the fire fighters are having a hard time putting it out due to the steep terrain. Sorrento is across the lake from us so this is getting serious.
I took out and re-covered the shelve above the washing machine which had been wrecked due to spilled javex a while back. Collins, the owner of South Thompson, came over and assessed the rig and the damaged to the slide then went back to his shop. An hour later, he called to say he accepts our deal minus $2000 so we accepted. I guess we are tentatively the proud owner of a new 2008 Forest River 33’ Silverback! I just hope we are not making another mistake like we did with this QUANTUM trailer from FLEETWOOD.

AUG 26, Wednesday, to Kamloops
We went back to South Thompson to get the papers in order for our new rig and to take some pictures of the rig, inside and out (SEE FOLDER # 43 in PICASA Link on the left column). We also went over the rig and made a list of everything we could find that needed attention. From here, we drove to Salmon Arm and picked up our mail and filled up the car then came home. We went to Marcel and Donna and showed them the pictures we took then it was time for dinner and a relaxing evening at home

AUG. 27, Thursday, Gateway
Sure can tell that we are coming to the end of the summer; it was only 45*F overnight although it is sunny now and will go up to mid 70’s, had to turn the furnace on this morning. We took all our ornaments off the wall, replaced the front window to its original glass, replaced the mirror on the wall in the kitchen and a few other odds and ends; getting ready for the transfer over to the new 5th-Wheel.
I went to Chase to our storage locker and got a couple of empty box to help with the move between the two trailers then I got Season 4 of SHIELD and stopped at the bank. I got a most pleasant surprise while at the storage unit; I found a box with CD and some of my programs and went I checked them at home, found all my pictures from 2005 to 2006. What a lucky find!
I went over to Marcel and helped him put his gazebo together later in the afternoon and Val helped Donna with dinner as we had it together.
After dinner we watched another episode of Shield.

AUG. 28, Friday, shopping.
I went to our storage in Chase to pick up the king size mattress from the Quantum and disposed of it then came home and picked up Val and Tucker for shopping day. We went to Salmon Arm where we picked up our mail and mailed a package to my brother Johnny. We had a quick lunch at the Java Jive coffee shop, stopped to fill the car using the accumulated points and some groceries then came home. There was a big accident on Hwy one near Chase this morning and I had to use the back roads to make it to Chase. When we left for Salmon Arm, the traffic was backed up for approx. 5-6 KM in the opposite direction but was cleared by the time we got back. Probably someone going too fast or texting!?
When we returned, I went over to Marcel’s place to help him with his gazebo. We finally got the top canopy on so now all he has to do is put up the side curtains. It was a complicated job, especially since the instructions were not very clear. We are having some very serious problems with wasps this year and they are quite aggressive. We have laid out traps everywhere
We went to the pub for fish and chip with Donna and Marcel and Ron & Sharon joined us. When we returned, we could see the flames on the mountain top from the fire behind Sorrento.
CHECK OUT THE PICTURES OF OUR NEW RIG!
