August 20 to 24, 2009 Looking for a new rig

AUG. 20, Thursday, Gateway
Got up in a better mood this morning. I went to Chase to exchange our movies then came home, made a few phone calls, vacuumed Marcel and Donna’s trailer and took the bed sheet back to our place to wash them. Another hot one today, 36*C (94*F) I made a few calls including one to O’Connor’s RV in Chilliwack and also phoned the computer guy in Logan Lake about the hard drive and told him to retrieve the other half of the drive.
We had a nice dinner then we got a call from our friends Glenda and Terry. We discussed our situation with the Quantum then after hanging up; we watched season two, episode 1 & 2 of SHIELD. It rained late in the evening but the temperature didn’t really cool off that much

AUG 21, Friday, Gateway
It’s going to be another hot day, already 70*F at 7:30 a.m.! I went to Chase, picked up some materials, came home and fixed the step going to the bedroom. It had fallen apart from the weight and this time, I reinforced the whole thing by putting some support on it.
We went to Donna and Marcel for a drink then we went to Scotch Creek for fish & chips at the local pub. We came home and started watching Season two of Shields.

AUG. 22, Saturday, to Kelowna
After breakfast, we drove to Kelowna to “Country RV” and looked over the 32’ Montana Mountaineer and the 3400 which was really beautiful but quite heavy and as long as the one we have now so it would defeat the purpose of trading.
We came home after getting some pamphlets. We had a quick turn-around at our house then picked up Donna and Marcel and went to Salmon Arm golf club for dinner for which we had reservations. We had BBQ pork, salad potatoes and dessert for $15. There were 6 of us and we had a good time. On the way home, Marcel mentioned a couple who had been asking about us and said they knew us so we stopped at their place and it turned out to be our RV friends, Carol & Rick, whom we had previously met on the road. We had a wonderful reunion but unfortunately it was time to come home.

AUG 23, Sunday, Gateway
Now we ponder over what to do about our rig. Val did laundry in the morning and I finished fixing the step to our bedroom. The air is really smoky today; there is a big fire two mountains back from us and we could see the flames when we drove from Salmon Arm yesterday.
We went to Chase to pick up some groceries then had happy hour with Donna and Marcel

AUG. 24, Monday, Kamloops
We went to Kamloops to look at some rigs and made a stop at Costco. First we stopped at South Thompson RV and looked at a 33’ Cedar Creek ’08 and 30’ Silverback ‘09. We also looked at others but always came back to these two. We left and went to Country RV on the Yellow Head Highway and looked at 34’ Montana ’09. They were willing to bargain our trade for 25K difference. We drove away to think all this over and stopped at Costco where Val picked up her eye contacts. We drove back to South Thompson RV and after looking at the two rigs again, we made an offer on the 33’ Cedar Creek with a difference of 14K and they accepted the deal pending a review of our rig. We gave a deposit to hold the rig.
We came home and had another call from our friends Glenda and Terry. We had called them earlier but hadn't had a connection. We told them of our news and chatted for a while. We had a glass of wine with Donna and Marcel then I BBQed hamburgers for dinner. Afterwards, Ron and Sharon called us to come over to their place for a drink so we went for about an hour then came home and watched more of SHIELD

Good luck in your purchase of a new unit. Our neighbours in Celista have had nothing but problems with Fleetwood products. They are now in a brand new Fleetwood park model, and still are dealing with repairs/fix ups - Fleetwood even sent a bathroom repair person up from Washington. Looks like you had a busy summer as well as ourselves so we were unable to call you and arrange a howdy do. Perhaps next time! That's some million dollar bridge near you now isn't it????
