September 5 to 9, 2009 routine at Gateway

SEPT 5, Saturday, Gateway
We, all the owners, had an annual meeting with the developer and the property management outfit. Most of it was good but our issues as owners were not really addressed, so the saga continues.
I spent the rest of the day putting up shelves, taking the fireplace out for more storage, put up the coat rack, shoe rack and a few other things. When Val got home from work, we went over to Brook and Karen for happy hour and dinner. Another couple was there and Karen served some delicious appetizers with our drinks. Dinner was absolutely marvellous; BBQ pork steaks, rice and vegetables, a real chef-d’oeuvre! We had a good time and as usual, all good things come to an end and since Val has to work tomorrow, we had to leave. We said our good nights and came home.

SEPT 6, Sunday, Gateway

The day was spent working on placing more stuff inside and organizing the basement storage. I took out the fireplace and Ron & Theresa bought it. Now I have to make a trip to Rona or Home Depot to get doors for it and install them. It rained on and off most of the day but the sun did come out in between. Brook came over and I gave him the “grand tour”. Val had to work until 7 p.m. today as someone injured herself so they had to split a shift. I had left over for dinner and we watched the last episode of SHIELD series 5.

SEPT 7, Monday, Gateway
Today was a relax day. I didn’t feel good all day; not sure if I am coming down with something!? I laid down and slept for almost 3 hours but I did feel better afterwards. Val visited our neighbours while I slept. Teresa and Ron left today and later on, so did Donna and Marcel. The park was pretty quiet after dinner, most everyone had left. We got a surprise call from friends Glenda and Terry and they told us about the flooding and damage in San Carlos, Mexico where we go most often. We checked out the website, VivaSanCarlos and saw all the pictures posted on the hurricane that went through there in August. It is heart wrenching to see all that damage, including TOTONAKA where we usually stay. Our neighbour Dennis loaned us a couple movies so we watched one of them in the evening.

SEPT 8, Tuesday, laundry day
As part of the trade between the Quantum and Silver Back, we lost our washing machine so this morning, we joined the poor sobs who go to the Laundromat to do their laundry and became one of them. Actually it was kind of fun and didn’t take so long to dry the clothes. We did some shopping while in Chase and looked for doors to close in where the fireplace used to be.
It rained most of the day so this was an “in” day

SEPT 9, Wednesday, Kamloops
I went for some blood test this morning then we went to Kamloops to shop for doors and a few other things. We bought doors at Home Depot but it turned out that my measurement were reverse so the doors we bought didn’t fit of course. We had a late lunch at the local pub then did a couple more stores and came home.
It is kind of lonely here at Gateway now. Everyone has left except two other couples. Even the workers are not around. We have 3 weeks left to our departure!
