June 25 to 30, 2009; Home

JUNE 25, Thursday, Lee Creek
We went to Scotch Creek today to shop for some groceries then to a little coffee shop where I am able to access the internet. I did some banking, updated our blog and downloaded our mail then we came home. We went for a walk around the park with Tucker, had dinner and I fixed a couple of little things in the trailer that needed attention. We watched a couple movies from Phil and Betty in the evening. I wrote a couple of e-mails

JUNE 26, Friday, Shopping in Salmon Arm
A beautiful day...sunny and warm! After breakfast, we drove to Salmon Arm for groceries, our mail and check our e-mail. We didn’t get back until 4 p.m. then Val cooked a Chinese dish for tonight. We went over to Ruth and Dennis once it was cooked. There were 7 couples invited, all neighbours. We sat around for a while to get acquainted then had dinner. It was quite a spread with rice cooked in almond, egg foo-yong(?) and rolls. After dinner, we sat around the fire and continued having fun. One of the neighbours, ED and Judy introduce a bottle of Newfoundland screech, powerful sweet liquor. It was emptied in a matter of an hour! Karen and Brook showed up later in the evening and sat with us to chat. He’s been away on business so it’s good to finally see him again. The party ended around 10:30 p.m. and we weaved or crawled home. (Just kidding) It was a good time for all and lots of fun.

JUNE 27, Saturday, Gateway
We got up late and spent the day walking and visiting our neighbours. Ron and Theresa, our neighbour up from us, arrived around noon with a “new” 2004 Corsair 5th-wheel. A beautiful trailer, 36 feet long, replacing their old one, a little 24 foot. They are very happy with their purchase and didn’t waste any time to settle in.
In the evening, we drove to Magna Bay, approx 10 miles north of here with Ron and Therese, Donna and Marcel and another couple to watch fireworks put on by the local fire hall and one of the Camping resort. It was quite a show! We got back home around 11 p.m.

JUNE 28, Sunday, Gateway
We, and two other neighbours, went to Donnas’ daughter’s place for Donna and Marcel’s 40th wedding anniversary. The whole family was there and we had a BBQ in the backyard. Afterwards, they presented them with cards and gifts, some which were comical. We had a marvellous time and we felt part of them...very nice people.
We came home around 8 p.m. and watched a movie.

JUNE 29, Monday, Visitors
Audrey (Val’s sister) and her husband Marcel arrived from Osoyoos where they bought an RV lot. Val was very happy to see her sister. We invited Marcel Lessard, our neighbour to meet them then we sat around until the beer ran out as which time the four of us went to the pub in Scotch Creek and had a few more beers and snacks then came home after buying beer and wine. We visited some more and caught to each other’s news. We went to bed around 11 p.m. not feeling any pain.

JUNE 30, Tuesday, Gateway
Marcel and Audrey left early for Olds Alberta, their home town. Later in the morning, Ruth came over and asked Val to see to her grand-son as he felt dizzy, tired and blurry vision. It was discovered that his blood sugar level was at a high of 26 on the scale. They took him to emergency as Val felt he could go into a coma. He was given insulin then his mom flew home to Calgary with him to get him to the hospital there.
We went to Scotch Creek to do some internet then came home and I printed forms that we received for Val’s nursing. In the evening, we went over to Donna and Marcel with Teresa and Ron and played “Sequence”. Of course, the guys won!

I calculated our expenditures and mileage since we left our lot in September of 2007. We were gone 19 months and averaged approx. $2,900 monthly expenditure. We travelled a total of 58,370 KM (36,481 Miles). The amount above excludes expenditures made on our lot. We have now seen all the States except South Dakota, Nebraska, Kansas and Alaska. We have travelled through all the Provinces except Newfoundland and still have to see the Yukon and North-West Territories. In that 19 months, we have visited a total of 6 Mexican States and North and South Baja; 2 Canadian Provinces and 24 US States. WOW! When I put all this in this perspective, I am overwhelmed!
