June 20 to 24, 2009, Nanaimo and back home

JUNE 20, Saturday, to New-Westminster
We spent the morning with the kids then left for New-Westminster to see and visit with Jeffrey without Tucker who stayed with the girls. We got to his place around 3 p.m. and set up in his condo for the night. Jeffrey had to go out by 6 p.m. so Val and I went out to the local pub for dinner then spent the evening on our own watching a movie. We went to bed around 11 p.m.

JUNE 21, Sunday, to Nanaimo, Vancouver Island
We got up at 7 a.m. and headed out to the ferry after having showering and readying ourselves. Unfortunately, I misread the itinerary and we were 15 minutes late so we had to wait 2 hours for the next ferry. Wilf, my previous father-in-law, picked us up on the Island side and we went to a little English pub for lunch. While there, friends of his showed up so they joined us. We had a very nice visit then we drove to Wilf’s place where we showed him pictures and tried to catch up to the all the news for the past 15 years. Vera, his wife, passed away last September so he is having a real rough time especially since his daughter(my wife) and son also died over 20 years ago. I cannot imagine what he is going through. We were as supportive as we could and told him that he could call us anytime he wanted.
Unfortunately time just went by too fast and it was time to catch the 7 p.m. ferry. He drove us back and before boarding we had dinner together, said our goodbyes and promised to see each other again.
We walked back on the ferry, crossed to Vancouver, picked up our car at the parking lot and drove back to Jeff. We visited with him for a while then it was time for bed.
It was a great day and I am happy to have re-joined with Wilf...he is a great man!

JUNE 22, Monday, back to Gateway Resort via Chilliwack.
We got up around 8 a.m. and left after showering and getting dress. Jeff had already left. We drove to Chilliwack where we picked up Tucker, said goodbye to everyone then headed to Phil and Betty’s place for a two hour visit before driving home to Lee Creek. It rained over the Pass but sunny on the north side. We stopped for dinner at Harold in Kamloops then finally arrived home around 8 p.m. Phil loaned us two sets of movie to watch; one is call TAKEN and the other is DEADWOOD. Each has 6 CD so that should entertain us for a while.

JUNE 23, Tuesday, Lee Creek
Val did laundry this morning and I went to town to do some business. ICBC had called me last week saying they had received two packages for my Mexico trip and I suspected that the girl at the Insurance office in Chase had screwed up and sure enough she had. She sent the papers to ICBC instead of the private insurance so I had to give them a new package.
In the evening, we watched two episodes of TAKEN

JUNE 24, Wednesday, Lee Creek
Cloudy with occasional drizzles today; windy too! Val did the last of her wash and we watched a CD from DEADWOOD serie.
