July 15 to 23, 2014; Work, Gateway, visitor from Chilliwack

JUL  15, Tuesday; Gateway
Today is supposed to be the hottest day yet!?  We sure have broken all kinds of heat records all over the Province!  We have reached temperature of 35 to 39*C with the humidex.  We did laundry and worked in the yard in the morning then retired inside where it was much cooler.  After dinner we watched the last of the first season of “Boardwalk” then to bed by 10 pm.  I’m sure you’ve noticed that we haven’t had group HH for a while now:  It is just too hot and everyone is staying inside with their A/C running.

JUL  16, Wednesday; To Salmon Arm
Another hot one but the forecast is for a cooling trend by the end of the week starting tomorrow!  We went to town today and left Tucker home as it is just too hot to have him stay in the Jeep.  The sky is filled with smoke from fires near Kelowna and Kamloops; so much so that we can’t see across the lake.  Salmon Arm was no better and all we can breathe and smell is smoke!  Picked up our mail and groceries, went to the bank to deposit a refund from ICBC then came home.  I installed a new LED light in the kitchen for Val and replaced one in the bathroom.  We stayed inside mostly as it is just too hot and smoky outside!  Cooking on the BBQ was no fun but I did it!

JUL  17 to 21; Back to the grind and Insurance Refund
First day at work was pretty warm and the air full of smoke from the fires burning near Kelowna. It finally began to cool down on Friday and we were able to have a pleasant HH with Bob and Gail.  We woke up to rain on Saturday; good for the fires burning throughout the Province and made work much more comfortable as the temperature was lower than what it has been.  Finally got the refund from the Insurance for the MH while in Mexico; now we wait for the final one from ICBC.  On the last day of work, I came home early (noon time) as I had to take stuff to drain me and get me ready for my colonoscopy exam tomorrow.  The appointment is at 7:45 in the morning…YUCK!!!

JUL  22, Tuesday; Hospital in Salmon Arm
We were at the hospital by 7:45 this morning.  After a short prep and wait, I was wheeled in the operation room and put under.  I next woke up in the recovery room around 10 am!  After a short delay, I was allowed to get up and get dressed.  They called Val and she picked me up.  We went straight to the restaurant to have breakfast; I was starved!  I called daughter Rochelle and Jeffrey to let them know that I had a clean bill of health and texted brother Gaetan.  We went to a meat shop called WINDMILLS MEAT & IMPORT and got a couple pounds of veal and some pork sirloin steaks; nice and thick!  While I was under, Val went shopping for grocery and picked up the mail so there was nothing more for us to do here so we drove home.  As we were coming in, Costco called to say Val’s eye contacts were ready so she drove to Kamloops to pick them up after dropping me off.  Later in the day , we had a surprise visit from Val’s cousin and his wife from Chilliwack.  Val, of course, showed them the rig and her garden.  They are staying at Quaaout Lodge for the night so we met them there for dinner and had a great visit catching up to family news.  We were home by 8 pm and in bed by 11.

JUL  23, Wednesday; Wash day!
WOW!  We both slept in until 9:45 am; must have needed it!?  Val got the laundry going early and I swept and cleaned outside.  We had quite a storm that blew over with very strong winds late in the afternoon.  So much so that our tree broke in half and fell down dragging the flag pole!  WOW!!!

I cleaned up the mess as much as I could under the rain.  We really had a deluge of it.  No BBQ’ing for dinner!  Watched more of “Boardwalk” then to bed by 10 pm
