We went full-time Rving in October of 2005! We retired from full time to part-time as of the end of 2015. Our present "small but comfortable" Wagon is a 2008 Camper trailer(TravelAir Rustler), pulled by a 2008 Dodge Dakota, 4X4.l. Our home is now a Gated Community Park, in Oliver, British-Columbia, Canada. I retired in 2005 and my Life Companion, Valerie, retired October 1, 2006 from nursing. We invite you to follow and share our new adventures and mishaps. Life is but an adventure full of dreams yet to be fulfilled!

July 18 to 31, 2007

Not having ready access to the internet can be a pain sometimes.  I hadn't realized it had been this long since I wrote.
Not much to report.  It's been a quiet week and a half.  Rained for about 6 days and finally cleared on the 24th.
I heard from Fleetwood finally.  They want us to bring the rig down to LaGrande, Oregon at their expense so will do that soon hopefully.  Need to get some work done on this rig first.
On the 23rd we went kayaking up the lake and down the river.  On the return trip, Val got caught up in some branches and with all the boat traffic, she got swamped and her kayak floated down the river on its own.  After securing her on shore I went after it and finally got a boater to pick it up for me as I couldn't reach it...too rough over the sand bar.  What an adventure!  Finally got home safe and sound and put the kayaks away for the time being.
We also went to the Imrie's at their cabin up the lake and did some kayaking there and had a wonderful day.

I AM HITCHING TO GET A MOVE ON!

On the last days of July, I finally got the front of the lot finished off with P-gravel and put up a little fence to add to the cosmetic.  Looks great.  Kids are coming for the long week-end, looking forward to that.

Friends of ours, Glenda and Terry, came over for the night with their rig.  They are just returning from a trip up to Alaska.  They are also full-timers and we follow their adventure on their blog at http://tagretire.blogspot.com    Had a very nice visit and they left the next day for Spokane, Wash.
Also called Festival RV in Lethbridge, Alta and got the word that our counter top replacement has been approved.  Made arrangement to have it installed along with some other stuff, in La grande when we go down.  I am REALLY DISAPPOINTED AND DISGUSTED WITH FESTIVAL.  I would NOT shop there again for the life of me.

July 14 to 17, 2007

Well, we finally heard from FLEETWOOD. They want us to take the rig down to Oregon so that they may look at it closely. They are offering to pay all expenses so we decided to jump this loop one more time but this is definitely the last one. After this we are either going to get our money back or a new rig if they can't resolve the issue.

It's been pouring dog and cats the last two days and the forecast is for overcast for the week-end. We are still waiting for the parts to come in. Val is working full time right now so we are planning our Oregon trip for August.

Not much else to report so will say bye for now. For those interested here are the figures/weight on the 355 Quantum as it is right now: trailer with kitchen stuff such as pots and pans, food and dishes; clothes and linen and some minor items at the back, the basement emptied and we have slide toppers X 4; "Hidden Hitch" installed, electric rear supports and the washing machine ( we are told this should not total more than 500lbs) we are sitting at 14,241 and the axles at 11,508. This leaves us with 59 lbs payload before reaching our max of 14300lbs

See you next time. If anyone has any comment/suggestions, we would love to hear them

July 5 to 13, 2007

And the saga continues. I have contacted Fleetwood 3 times now this week and still noone has returned my call. NEVER WILL I DEAL WITH FLEETWOOD AGAIN!!!! Looks like I may have to go the legal route and also try to get a better result by contacting newspapers and RV magazine.

Took the Quantum to Butler to get the new microwave installed (warranty) and I stopped to weigh again. The trailer is sitting at 14245 lbs and that is with the basement completely empty. We took a whole bunch of stuff upstairs and are down to minimal stuff in the kitchen and still I have only 55 lbs to spare.

Called Festival and learned that the 2 chairs missing are on their way. They are ordering another countertop for the kitchen and a new pocket door. The present ones have markings on them. Quantum is definitely not a LUXURY trailer like Fleetwood brags about.

Last night we went kayaking on the lake with our friends the Kirkby's and the Emrie's. Had a wonderful time and I even got a bit drunk.
Very hot here this past week. mid to upper 30's with all kinds of record being broken about the hottest places. So far, it's Lytton with 42 degrees Celsius.

See you next time....hopefully, i will have some answers and good news.

July 1 to 4

Well, got the fiver weight and found out that we have a grand total of 400 lbs payload. Send all the paperwork to Fleetwood and copied Festival. Now I need to call them and seee where we're at. Hopefully, there won't be any problems and they will be receptive to an exchange
